The Reason Why Clone Golf Clubs Are Worth It

June 30, 2007

When it comes to choosing a new set up of golf clubs, you are obviously going to want the best, but more importantly you are going to want them at cheap prices. This is why manufacturers have decided on the idea of clone golf clubs. They not only play the same but are almost made to look the same as well. Customers are going to see that the prices are lower and that they are just as good as the "very, very best" which is why retailers capitalize on this.

I cannot see why a player cannot go out and beat a fellow player who has the so called "big name brands". It makes perfect sense. People may look at cloned clubs and say that you have to own the best if you want to play the best but honestly this is not the case. I know this may sound off the mark but if Tiger Woods went out with a set of cloned clubs, its not as if he is going to drop dramatically in his play. Can you see where I am coming from? I hope this makes sense to you and I really think it does.

Manning and Manning-Can Either Brother Win the Big One?

Manning and Manning-Can Either Brother Win the Big One?
 by: Paul Mrocza

It was just over a year ago, after the Colts lost to the Pats in their post-season contest, that Boomer Esiason said on national television, “I think maybe Peyton (Manning) is this generation’s Dan Marino.” Esiason went on to state that Manning “is a great football player, but he’s not going to get to the Super Bowl, I’m telling you, not with that defense.”

Marino, who was on the set, took umbrage at the reference and shot back, “Oh, wait a minute. I got to a Super Bowl.” Marino made a good point, but still, Esiason seemed to be on target by not blaming either quarterback for their failings but, rather, the guys on the other side of the ball-their weak defenses.

Fast forward to January 15, 2006, almost exactly a year to the date that Esiason made his comments. What was different this time for Peyton Manning and the Colts? The Colts seemed to have the full package-a great running and passing attack, a solid offensive line, and a fine defense. Everything was aligned for Manning-Mania to take full effect, especially after such a spectacular regular season.

So Your Teenager Wants To Be A Champion Golfer

So Your Teenager Wants To Be A Champion Golfer
 by: Lawrie Montague

Do you harbour secret desires that your teenager will one day play the PGA or LPGA tour? Millions of dollars in prize money attracts so many talented golfers willing to sacrifice everything to have a crack at making money playing golf.

So how can you help your teenager become a more successful golfer? Give every opportunity to develop their skills, experience and knowledge in golf. Becoming successful at golf is not easy, so you need a solid team to give you help and guidance to make it happen. At the Australian High Performance Golf Academy we design programs to the specific needs of our students

Your Golf Support Team

To progress to professional golf, your teenager must understand what is required to nurture their talent continually. Golf is as much a mental game. Ideally they need one hour golf lessons every week (forty to forty five lessons per year) from the age of twelve and they should be focused on a number of critical factors;

1. Good good grip produce good golf swings.

Golf Instruction Is Only Part Of The Equation

June 28, 2007

Golf instruction is critical in understanding the mechanics of the golf swing. I am a firm believer in golf instruction. However, golf instruction is not the ONLY component to optimal golf performance.

I believe the BEST combination for maximizing your golf potential is golf instruction, mental golf AND the physical (fitness) side of golf.

You see, golf is a very demanding and stressful sport on your body.

To stand in a somewhat stationary position, while swinging a 3 foot long club at over 80 miles an hour, takes a tremendous amount of both strength and flexibility.

Do you agree?

I mean, how many times have you fallen off balance during your swing? Be honest. I’ll bet more times than you can count.

Why do you think this happens?

Mainly, because you’re swinging beyond what your body is physically capable of, while maintaining adequate stability.

The result is mishits, shorter distance on all clubs and even injury.

What’s the answer?

Get your body in shape, to take advantage of your lessons and optimize your potential. Taking this approach will result in the quickest transformation of your game. No doubt.

Hola Modern Bike Shorts, Adios Itchy Groin
 by: Ron Fritzke

We’d just made it to the top of Mount Shasta (well actually only

as far as the road goes) when the subject of old-school bike

shorts came up. In those days I was still pounding the roads

training for marathons, oblivious to the cyclist’s tribulations.

My Mount Shasta riding partner was the real hero from

yesteryear.

He’s the guy who’d lived through the days of wool bike shorts.

You know…those old wool bike shorts that were washed in cold

water… if you ever wanted to squeeze into them again. Even

with the utmost of care they crept further and further up,

gradually squeezing all the life out of your legs.

It’s rumored that the entire Speedo company was founded by a

cyclist who washed his wool bike shorts in hot water.

So what modern improvements do we enjoy in the world of bike

shorts?

An Upgrade In Materials

The most obvious upgrade is also the aspect of modern bike

shorts that makes the newbie most nervous. Namely…Spandex.

Stop Being a Paintball Newbie!

Stop Being a Paintball Newbie!
 by: Jo Blake

Paintball is one of the fastest growing recreation sports in the world. At the tournament level, players require all the athletic prowess and skill of more traditional physical sports. In the US and Europe in particular, huge amounts of money are being invested in paintball athletes and teams.

Pretty much everyone comes into paintball at the recreational level; it’s a fun day out and a chance to outsmart the other side. If you are just getting into paintball, here are some ways to get the edge over other new players and even the odds with more experienced players. These tips aren’t going to get you on to a professional paintball squad, but they should help get you beyond ‘newbie’ status.

* Use cover effectively *

So here’s a tip from the army - don’t look over obstacles or cover, look around them. The shape of a human head peering over a barricade is easily recognized. If possible, look around the base of the bush instead; it makes you much harder to spot. Sometimes you may want to be spotted, if paintballs are flying your way it helps your team locate the opposing players. If you do stick your head up, then, limit exposure to a maximum of two seconds.

The Top 10 Life Lessons from Golf

June 25, 2007

Golf is an amazing mirror of life. Yes, other sports provide life lessons as well, but golf happens to be my favorite sport and the one I understand the best. It is an addiction, a mystical experience, a test of character, an escape, a source of rare joy and excruciating pain. No psychological test will tell you as much about a person’s character as a round of golf. With the arrival of spring, here are some of my observations about golf and the game of life:

1. Expectations & Flexibility. Golf, like life, is not mastered in a season, and it is particularly frustrating if we approach it with stiff and inflexible expectations. Great golf begins with stretching, bending, loosening up, and matching my desired outcomes with the realities of a body grown lazy over the winter. A sense of humor, and a sprinkling of humility go a long way!

2. Clarity of Purpose. Many golfers never stop to think about why they play the game. To win? To have fun? For social reasons, or for the challenge? For the exercise? Just as striving to become rich and famous often creates frustration and disappointment, few will ever play professionally, and striving for perfection is a setup for “failure”. Know why you play the game and where you find your satisfaction and joy in it.

Unusual Baseball Statistics - I Love ‘em
 by: Aron Wallad

I have been fascinated by some of the statistics that have been

amassed by some of the major leaguers. Viewing some players

numbers has amazed me. My Baseball memorabilia are these amazing stats.

Here are a few achievements I thought might interest you.

Rogers Hornsby

From 1921 to 1925 he batted 2679 times -

He hit safely 1078 times

And averaged .402 during this five year run. Not too shabby

From ages 36 to 41 - his final six years in the Majors

Rogers batted 350 times total

Hit safely 105 times and fell 70 hits short of

3000 hits for his career. Maybe he could have planned better

Lou Gehrig

From 1930 to 1934 he drove in 813 runs

An average of 162 RBIs per year - Enough said

The man was a run producing machine

Ty Cobb

He had 1937 RBIs in his career

He never hit more than 12 home runs in a single year

Freecell Solitaire Power Moves explained

Freecell Solitaire Power Moves explained
 by: Dan Fletcher

Most people understand the rules for Freecell, but not everyone understands Freecell PowerMoves. Understanding PowerMoves is one of the most important keys to winning Freecell, and knowing how they work will increase your chances of winning Freecell.

A Freecell powermove (also called a supermove), is simply a shortcut move. It lets you move a sequence of cards in one move, instead of doing lots of individual moves.

It isn’t a special move though.

It’s just a shortcut, to move all the cards in the sequence in one move, rather than several moves using the available freecells and empty columns.

The number of cards you can move in a supermove sequence is based on how many freecells and empty columns are available. Some freecells games implement this incorrectly, and let you move any number of cards in a sequence.

But this is wrong. If you couldn’t move the sequence using individual card moves, then you can’t move the sequence using a powermove either.

A freecell supermove uses the empty columns and freecells as efficiently as possible, to ensure you can move the maximum number of cards. To work out how many cards can be moved, the following formula is used:

Golf Humor Examines Golf Emotions:- Are We Just A Bunch Of Cry Babies?

June 23, 2007

Let’s examine an aspect of the game that I find par- ticularly fascinating:- The strong emotions associated with this game of golf.

Before I started becoming a fan of this game, I always wondered how a game that looked so bland—-and at times down right comatose—–that seemed to take boredom to a whole new level——could possibly have Any emotional appeal.

DID THIS GAME ACTUALLY HAVE A PULSE?!

I mean——-what could be simpler? PUT THE BALL IN THE HOLE, RIGHT?

How could that POSSIBLY produce such strong emotions (both on the green and off).

I see now that it’s NOT just about competing to be the best against others, and to better your own game.

But that the game APPEARS to be so deceptively simple. Could THAT be the source of this emotional rollercoaster?

Remember when you first began? How you may have experienced difficulty just gripping the club handle? (Or just being allowed to join the local golf club?) ;-]

But yet you still managed to “putt” the ball in the hole? (A typical case of beginner’s luck). You probably thought to yourself, “This isn’t so bad. Piece of caKE!”
