Looking for the Best Casino Gambling
 by: Roger Wembley

When a person is new to casinos and the world of gambling, he will surely ask the question, “Which is the best casino to gamble at?”. Of course, there will be several answers to this question. But what this person is really asking about is “How will I know that he is inside a good casino?”

Some experienced gambling players will jokingly answer that the best casinos are those that are open twenty-four hours a day seven days a week: A gambler’s paradise that will never force them to go home because it is closing time already. But in reality, this is not the main characteristic that serious gambling players look for in a casino.

There are two important things that experienced gambling players look for in a casino. First, they look for the rules of the casino games that they plan to play. Each casino has its own variation of rules. For example, in Blackjack, some casinos allow splitting while others do not.

Why Do Rugby Players Scrum And Maul At Such Different Body Heights?

Why Do Rugby Players Scrum And Maul At Such Different Body Heights?
 by: Bruce Ross

Scrums and mauls are the two great dominance contests within the game of rugby. Marked superiority in either of these forms of engagement can affect the morale of both teams in a way that a corresponding supremacy at say the lineout does not.

Forward packs spend countless hours developing scrum technique but very much less attention is given to the maul, particularly in a defensive situation. Scrums are also elaborately structured whereas mauls tend to be chaotic. To a large extent this is due to the relative extent to which the two are regulated by the Laws of Rugby. Law 20, relating to the scrum, comprises three times as many pages as Law 17 pertaining to the maul.

Unlike the scrum, the Laws are largely silent on what players can do in the maul. Within the maul itself the most relevant clauses are that “Players joining a maul must have their heads and shoulders no lower than their hips” (17.2 (a)); they “must endeavour to stay on their feet” (17.2 (d)); and “A player must not intentionally collapse a maul” (17.2 (e)). Thus there remains considerable latitude for creativity.

5 Sure Fire Ways to Build a more Powerful and Pain-FREE Golf Game

August 21, 2007

Until recently being physically fit was of little concern to most golfers, but the tides of changes have recently taken hold of the golf world and only the strong will survive this tidal wave. Many of today’s golfers are not only working with instructors but they also seek out assistance from strength and conditioning coaches or personal trainers to help them improve their physical skills, in hopes of being able to blast that little white ball a few more yards down the fairway.

I recently took a look at some of the more popular golf related websites and found little relevant information about how or what to do to physically prepare yourself for the game of golf. So I as sport performance strength and conditioning coach, I took it upon myself to take a look at the physical abilities required to perform a successful golf shot. I did a little research by looking at frame by frame analysis of several of pros; and I walked away with five key traits that every golfer must have in order to be proficient and powerful.

Here they are:

1. Trunk Flexibility - this allows the golfer rotate maximally during the back swing, while keeping the hips/pelvis "quiet" during the back swing.

The Beginning of Baseball

The Beginning of Baseball
 by: Frankie Herban

Baseball and its Origins

The exact origins of baseball are unknown, but most

historians concur that it was derived from the English game

of rounders. It started gaining population in the United

States in the early 19th century, and many sources report

the growing popularity of the game, sometimes called

“townball” or simply “base.” During this period, small

towns formed teams and larger cities established baseball

clubs. In 1845, Alexander Cartwright established a formal

list of rules for play. Many of those rules are still in

place today. Abner Doubleday is widely credited with

inventing the game, but baseball’s true father was

Cartwright.

The first recorded baseball game took place in 1846 when

Cartwright’s Knickerbockers lost to the New York Baseball

Club in Hoboken, New Jersey. Baseball continued to grow in

popularity after this game until the Cincinnati Red

Stockings decided to become the first entirely professional

team in 1869. Two years later the first professional

baseball league, the National Association, was formed. This

association was short-lived because the teams were owned

Which Type of Poker Are You Best At?
 by: Roger Wembley

Which kind of poker are you best at? There is no quick way to find out and only keeping poker statistics can help you. For math wizards, you may do this manually and be sure that you never forget a game. Or if you feel that you need a professional to help you, you may use a program at websites such as www.checkyourbets.com.

Once you know which poker you are good at, you should be able to answer another important question: Why are you winning most of the time at one variation of poker and losing often at the other? Is it because you have mastered the technical aspects of the game? Or is it because you are simply topnotch at the people aspects of poker? The technical skills of poker involve being adept at poker math, such as pot odds. The people skills involve bluffing and being able to modify the style of play.

You will find that poker players have different opinions about which of the two types of skills are more important. Many poker blogs are dedicated to their theories. However, here are personal theories about skills and games that you may want to check out.

Beginner or Novice Golfers: Start with a Pre-Owned set of Golf Clubs

August 18, 2007

As a beginner or novice golfer, you want to avoid the expense of purchasing a “New” set of golf clubs, and concentrate your efforts on finding a good set of “Used” golf clubs (also know as “Pre-Owned”.)

Major golf club manufacturers introduce new lines of clubs almost every year. With the yearly advances in golf club technology, many golfers regularly upgrade their existing golf sets in pursuit of improving their game and lowering their handicap. This leaves the golf club market flooded with high quality, bargain sets of golf clubs. The trade-in market has become so huge, that a few major golf club manufacturers have launched their own sites to meet the demand, like “Callaway Golf” (www.callawaygolfpreowned.com.) The question is where, and how, do you find the best set of clubs for you?

Online is a great place to start. You want to get a feel for the market by comparing the prices of the “Pre-Owned” clubs offered by the thousands of sites advertising the sale of used clubs (Searching “Google” alone will bring up about 700,000 sites.) Surf a few sites and compare the quality and prices of numerous club sets. While you are on the internet, E-bay may also prove to be beneficial in searching for your set of used golf clubs. The selection and variety of clubs available changes daily, so you will have to keep a close watch to find the best deal for your golf clubs.

The DH: Making Life Tough for AL Pitchers

The DH: Making Life Tough for AL Pitchers
 by: Paul Mrocza

In 1973 Major League Baseball instituted three rules designed to lessen the power of pitchers and create more offense. One theory at work was that the game needed to be energized and that more hitting would create additional runs and excitement.

Both the National and American Leagues lowered the pitcher’s mound and made the strike zone smaller. The American League, as is well known, also created a new offensive position - the designated hitter (DH). The DH specialized in one thing and one thing only - hitting. Usually third in the batting order, the DH was more often than not a power hitter who also swatted the ball for average. Sometimes he was an older, less mobile player trying to extend his career or he could be a younger guy ill-equipped to be a position player.

Purists have decried the DH; baseball equal rights activists have bemoaned the lack of parity between the leagues; and strategists have claimed that managing in the American League is simply a lot easier than in the National. Some even focus on how A.L. pitchers are at a disadvantage when playing in an N.L. venue, due to the fact that normally they don’t hit and must when in Senior Circuit parks.

Golf Industry Insights

August 16, 2007

The time and effort for due diligence prior to the launch of Prescription Putting has provided a number of insights to the golf industry. The following are some of the things that we learned and ones that help shape what we do here at Prescription Putting.

Over the last year, we have made an effort to learn the ins and outs and the pitfalls of this industry. The first caution was in the form of a joke. “Do you know how to make a small fortune in the golf industry?” The answer: “Start with a big one!”

Here are some of the facts.

There are more golf courses than ten years ago.

There are no more golfers than ten years ago.

There are fewer rounds of golf played than ten years ago.

The same number of golf clubs are sold each year.

Therefore the battle is for market share.

The profitability increase is related only to increase price of the club, i.e. cost of the drivers and putters up to $1000.00.

The industry is marketing (not market) driven.

New technology that makes a difference is not as frequent as advertised.

Rogue Casinos - Get Their Hands Off Your Money!

Rogue Casinos - Get Their Hands Off Your Money!
 by: Hein Hayman

Rogue online casinos seem to be everywhere! But what are they?

“Rogue casino” is a term describing an online casino that for whatever reason does not conform to normal, proper online casino behavior.

A good and frequent example is an online casino not paying out the money you won or deposited. The problem starts when you request a withdrawal. Then any excuse under the sun is given for them not being able to fulfil your request.

The usual excuse is that they do not have your withdrawal details, even though you have sent it to them dozens of times. Other excuses include that they have “administrative” or “system” problems or that they have already sent out the cheque and it was probably lost in the post.

I have even heard the excuse that they recently had to pay out a big jackpot, which impacted their cash flow and therefore they will only be able to honour the withdrawal request at the end of the month! Unbelievable! Do you really want to play at a casino (online or offline) that has cash flow problems?
