Advanced Blackjack Strategy
by: Linda Harrison
Blackjack card counting is an advanced technique to win on blackjack. A player must first learn the basic strategies of blackjack before learning counting. By learning the technique of counting you will have the odds with you.
The basic concept of blackjack counting is that a deck filled with 10s and aces will be to your advantage. While the deck of the dealer is filled with smaller cards but is to the dealer’s advantage. Simply put, when the deck is in your favor bet to the maximum, when it’s with the dealer’s bet minimum.
This is because a deck filled with 10 increases the chance of the dealer getting bust. You on the other hand can just opt to stand. In an opposite manner, a deck filled with smaller cards makes the dealers chance to bust less. If you know the deck is filled with 10s or smaller cards, this can give you the advantage of knowing what strategy to use.
The dealer must then always hit until having a soft 17. To hit with a hand of 10 & 6 and knowing the deck is filled with 10s is a bad idea.
Tiger Woods, the Greatest Ever? ?NOT!
September 21, 2007
Tiger is great but still a long way from claiming the title of "Greatest That Ever Played The Game". Although I do believe he is more then on his way to claiming that illustrious title, God willing. But until then, Slammin’ Sammy Snead is my pick. That’s right, not even Nicklaus.
If you look at the 11 win gap between Jack’s 70 total victories and Sam’s 81 and then figure Sam’s total of 165 victories he claims, no one even comes close. Sorry Jack. Now figure in the shape of the courses today, the equipment and the level of competition and there is no doubt in my mind that Sammy is the man. Keep in mind, Sam played against, Byron Nelson and Ben Hogan — all born the same year - they were considered the era’s Big Three. Hogan amassed 63 total wins and Nelson won 52, putting both of them in the top 5 of the all time winners list. Does anyone really thing that Tiger’s best competition today, is going to end up in that illustrious group? I think not.

Bell Witch - True Ghost Story
by: DeWayne Strickland
The Bell Witch is based on true events that will send a cold chill down your spine and make the hair on the back of your neck stand up. When you try to sleep tonight, just remember that I warned you about the Bell Witch.
Just like in the movie “The Ring”, once you look into the darkness, it looks back at you. Your life will never be the same once you know about the Bell Witch and your thirst to know more is never quenched. Are you ready for a “True Ghost Story”?
According to the Legend, John Bell was the only person recognized by any state to have been killed by a spirit. The Legend dates back to the time of General Andrew Jackson, in the early 1800s. The story has a special interest for me, because I live in Tennessee. Nice to know the Bell Witch is not too far away!
How would you like to visit the Bell Witch location in Tennessee? Bring your camera, because you never know what you will see. You can even visit the hidden Bell Witch cave, which lies on the property of the ill-fated Bell family.
Pull, Push or Carry? I?ll Carry My Golf Clubs Thanks
September 18, 2007
I love to play golf and I love to walk the golf course. After all, the Pros walk when they play golf and if walking is good enough for them why not me? Ideally I would love to have a Caddie carry my bag but it’s not an option at my golf club. So the question comes down to carry my golf bag or use a push-cart or pull-cart. I’ve tried them all and I choose to carry my golf clubs. Here are the reasons:
· TIME
· CONVENIENCE
· HEALTH
Time ? I want to play golf without standing around waiting all the time and most golf courses require you to play at a certain pace in a specified amount of time. With a carry bag I can play at a quicker pace then when using a handcart. To be honest, if I could always hit the ball down the middle it wouldn’t make that big a difference, but hey, once in a while my ball flight doesn’t go exactly as planned and I occasionally find myself off the fairway. Now at the golf course where I play, if you are "off the fairway" you might be in the woods or down the side of a canyon or next to the creek. If I were using a cart I would have to leave my golf cart, go after the ball to hit it or retrieve it and then come back to my cart. But with a light carry bag I just bring it along for the adventure. I am able to walk just about anywhere and still keep my golf clubs with me. You can save a lot of time when you don’t have to go back and forth to your golf cart.
Basic Turkey Hunting Information: Knowing Your Prey and Their Behavior

Basic Turkey Hunting Information: Knowing Your Prey and Their Behavior
by: Niall Barco
Fall was the preferred time to hunt wild turkeys by most of the famous old time turkey hunters and is still favored by many traditionalists. These turkey hunting experts liked it best because it was a lot more difficult and therefore more rewarding to call in an old turkey in the fall rather than the spring.
Gobblers in the late summer, fall and winter become very solitary animals with very little interest in females. They do, however, gobble in the fall and there have been a few mornings in October and November that you would think that it was spring with the huge number of gobblers around. On rare occasions, gobblers will even come in strutting and gobbling just like it was spring. More likely though, you won’t even notice a fall turkey reacting to your calls. He will just appear silently, looking for companionship with another long beard but not really caring whether he finds it or not. This is a real fall gobbler.

The Olympic Games - A Brief (And Bizarre) History
by: Jeff Beck
It’s easy to get caught up in the excitement of modern-day Olympics. With so much drama, so much romance, so much pizzazz, it is hard to imagine this world-wide spectacle being anything less than perfect. But you don’t have to dig too deeply to discover a humble and oft-times peculiar origin. Truly, it has taken several decades of Hollywood magic to produce the polished sports event we take for granted today.
According to Roman legend, the original Olympic Games were founded by none other than Heracles, the super human son of Zeus, no doubt as an opportunity to demonstrate his god like strength in front of the ladies. An alternative legend tells the story of Pelops, a Greek romantic, and father of the Olympics. In a desperate attempt to win the hand of his bride, Hippodamia, Pelops challenged her father, the King of Pisa, to a chariot race. To give himself the edge, Pelops replaced the king’s linchpin with one made of wax, which melted during the race, throwing the king from his chariot and killing him. Upon winning the race, the girl, and the entire empire, Pelops declared this the first Olympic Games - forever instilling the qualities of cheating and deception upon the games.
Golf Fitness Training Equals Better Golf
September 16, 2007
If you’ve watched any golf on the television you’ve no doubt heard the commentator’s mention golf fitness training. It’s no secret that 95 percent of professional golfers are doing some for of golf fitness training.
If there livelihood depends on their performance and they are participating in golf fitness training, why wouldn’t amateur golfers do the same?
The golf swing is one of the most physically demanding movements on the human body of all sports.
Swinging a three and a half foot long implement at upwards of 100 mph, while maintaining balance, stabilization and proper swing mechanics is very difficult.
I don’t think I have to convince you of that do I?
The "only" way to be able to accomplish this is by improving the strength AND flexibility of your golf muscles.
What’s the simplest way to do this?
I can tell you not on a machine in your local gym.
Just take a look at the golf swing to realize it’s "on your feet" and bent at the waist. How could sitting in a machine help that?
It can’t!
You’ve got to do as many exercises as possible on your feet, involving balance, coordination, strength and flexibility.
What A Great Night

What A Great Night
by: Aron Wallad
The Time Machine brings me back to Chancellor Avenue, Newark, New Jersey, circa 1964. Vintage cars like the ‘62 Oldsmobile Spitfire, 1957 and 1958 Chevy’s roamed up and down the street passing The Bunny Hop, The Burgerama and Dave’s Hot Dog Haven. Did we only eat French fries, hot dogs and hamburgers? I think so.
On May 19th, 2005 I had the pleasure of attending the Sunday morning group of boys that used to frequent Chancellor Avenue. This event perpetuates the camaraderie that existed amongst us boys. For some old boys the time machine went back to the 1920’s. There were some guys there that were 90 years old. I felt great. I was one of the youngest guys to attend.
Wow what a group. There must have been over 200 boys of Chancellor there. All of us used to hang out in the neighborhood. Most of us went to Weequahic High School. Some went to South Side High School, and some guys were from Hillside. And most of us played baseball, basketball, softball, or football in our day.
