Knee Boarding Tips - Tricks and Jumps
 by: Nicola Kennedy

Deepwater Start

The deepwater start is necessary to the knee boarder beginner. The following are some steps on how to do it correctly.

1) Put the strap in loosest position and make sure it is at the front of the knee pad.

2) Lie on your stomach on the board with your hands in the palms-down grip.

3) Signal the boat driver to take the speed up slow. When the board begins to plane, start to pull your knees onto the knee pad.

4) Slowly slide or crawl on your knees until they reach the normal kneeling position.

5) As soon as you are in your comfortable position sit up, let go of the handle with one hand and put the strap over your legs.

Surface tricks

The side slide is the simplest of all the tricks.

1) Place yourself correct after the boat with your hands in the palms-down grip.

2) Turn the board in both direction and lean away from the boat.

Online Golf Program Features and Benefits

January 30, 2008

There are many features and benefits to look for when it comes to choosing an online golf program over a personal golf trainer who charges by the hour or lesson. In this article, I will focus on the most important benefits. I will be discussing what you should be looking for when choosing an online golf program and the many benefits of working with an online golf trainer.

What to look for in an online golf program

You should try to find a program that is comprehensive in nature. The golf program should be able to effectively teach you how to improve your golfing techniques, mechanics and consistency of your game. To be able to consistently hit the ball properly every time! But, it is not enough just to join a program that only focuses on golf. To be the best golfer that you can possibly be, you need to perform the proper exercises and follow proper nutrition as well. Golf specific exercises will allow you to improve your golf swing and hitting distance. Exercising will also improve your flexibility, prevent injuries, make you feel healthier and increase your strength. By strength we mean not muscle mass but power because if you get too bulky, it will hinder your swing.

Face of Death - Final Destination 3
 by: DeWayne Strickland

Do you remember a time in your life, where you stopped doing something because you thought you might die? Maybe it was flying on a plane, visiting New York City, riding on a train, or eating health food vs junk food.

Death is that “Great Mystery”, which we all face sooner or later.

In Final Destination 1, Alex Chance Browning(Devon Sawa) discovers there is a pattern for this face of death and he is going to beat it! He noticed a few subtle things and started seeing the pattern. Amazingly, he is able to keep himself alive, while people drop like flies around him.

Final Destination 1 shows this black shadow(Grim Reeper), that reaches out towards its victims. The victims are unaware of what is happening, until it is too late! I had a relationship like that once! How about you?

In Final Destination 2, Clear Rivers(Ali Larter) stays alive by residing in an institution hidden from the face of death pattern(Thanks to Hollywood). Unfortunately, the death pattern kills off people again and leaves you saying to yourself, “that is disturbing.” Welcome to the world of unsettling moments and elaborate death sequences!

Getting a Grip on Golf Terminology

Getting a Grip on Golf Terminology
 by: Keven Johnson

Regardless of how much you’ve played golf, you’re probably going to hear some new terminology every time you’re golfing with a new group or working with a new instructor. The way to save face is to simply nod like you know exactly what they’re talking about, even when they’re touting new words. The smart thing to do is ask.

Even a casual golfer knows words like bogey, slice and approach. But did you know that balata is that rubbery substance that covers a golf ball? Here are a few terms that may be less well known to some golfers.

A chunk is that boo-boo of hitting the ground behind the ball - way behind the ball. The word came about because the chunk of grass (the divot) that flies up can sometimes travel a longer distance than the ball. When it’s done on purpose - as from a sand bunker - the resulting shot is called an explosion. When the ball is really buried in that sand, it’s known as a fried egg.

How to Unleash Your True Golf Potential (Part 1)

January 28, 2008

Time and time again we see today’s golfers out on the driving range trying to better their game. Whether it’s working their short game or driving the long ball, hours upon hours are spent on trying to master proper technique in order to take strokes off their game. What most golfers are unaware of is that the proper technique they are striving for is often hampered by something call muscle imbalance. Muscle imbalances are postural deficiencies that will cause faulty movement patterns, discomfort or even pain during activities such as a golf swing.

Muscle imbalances can be caused by many other factors besides golf, for example sedentary lifestyle, occupation, and injury just to name a few. Repetitive movements such as a golf swing can cause muscles on one side of the body to tighten while the apposing muscles become weak and lengthened. This will often result in the loss of power and accuracy in a golfers swing. For a golfer to achieve his or her true potential, one must correct these imbalances that are hampering their ability to perform proper technique.

Getting The Right Golf Clubs For You

Getting The Right Golf Clubs For You
 by: Edwin Shackleford

With so many clubs out there, deciding which one to get can be a tough decision. Here are some tips on how to narrow down the selection.

- Decide on your levels for playing

Some play for the weekend game and there are others who’d like to move up in the ranks. If the occasional game is your pace, a low- to mid-performance club can work for you, while a high-performance club is suited to those who’ll play more regularly.

- Set a budget

The notion that the more expensive the club, the better it is simply doesn’t hold water anymore. If you do enough homework and read reviews you’ll find a club that matches your level of interest. Don’t be afraid to check out used clubs as they can give you the best chances of getting the club you need at a good price.

Now that you know your interest level and have established a budget, here’s a brief run-through of kinds of golf clubs and what each one does.

Essential Equipment for Enjoying The Kneeboarding Buzz

Essential Equipment for Enjoying The Kneeboarding Buzz
 by: Nicola Kennedy

Knee boarding is similar to surfing wherein the rider paddles on his abdomen into a wave on a knee board, then rides the wave face normally on both knees. However, kneeboard designers are recognized for their wild experimental excesses.

The advantage of kneeboarding is that it gives the rider the skill to deal with tube rides that might require too fast of a take off for a standup surfer or body boarder to get into and might get too tight or steep for a stand-up board surfer to deal with.

Boarders typically use swim fins and an ankle surf leash. Swim fins, or flippers are finlike rubber or plastic shoes worn over the foot to assist and ease movement through the water in water sports activities such as body boarding, bodysurfing, kneeboarding, swimming, and various types of diving.

Also, the speed determines the duration of your tricks. The speed depends on the weight of the boarder. The heavier the knee boarder, the slower the run goes, but if you are lighter, you will go faster.

Myrtle Beach Tee Times ? A Quick Glance

January 25, 2008

Planning a golf vacation in Myrtle Beach? Here are six things to know before planning your next golf outing to the Grand Strand.

Flights - Golfers vacationing in Myrtle Beach can choose to tee off during AM or PM flights. Usually the morning flights run from 7 AM until 9 PM. Afternoon flights generally run from 9:30 AM until Noon. During daylight savings time the afternoon flight often is extended until 2:30.

Double Teeing - Most courses along the Grand Strand follow the practice of double teeing. Golfers tee off on either the first or tenth tee box. Courses do this for the obvious reason of getting more golfers on the course each day which brings in more money. Of course, this also gives golfers a nice little pit stop after the first nine. The few single-tee golf courses usually provide golfers beverage carts and a restroom at the turn.

Tee Time Intervals - Expect slow play during the busy seasons. The reason for this is more than an abundance of golfers. Most Myrtle Beach golf courses only give golfers eight minutes between groups. This often produces the same effect as hitting your brakes on a crowded freeway - gridlock.

Steeped in Tradition- A History of the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament

Steeped in Tradition- A History of the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament
 by: F.R. Penn

It is a looking glass for human hope, excellence and positive social change. It is, in short, a microcosm of the human existence, with all of its exuberance, tragedy and triumph.

The excitement and tradition of “March Madness” as we know it today has been shaped by many significant events in NCAA tournament history: The first NCAA men’s basketball tournament was held in 1939 with the first championship game held at Northwestern on March 27, 1939. Only eight teams competed in two regions. Oregon defeated Ohio State in the championship, and the West region held a third-place game.

Although the NCAA tournament now determines the national champion, that was not always the case. Until the 1950’s, the NIT was considered a more prestigious tournament than the NCAA, and teams often chose to enter the NIT and bypass the NCAA tourney. Because of this dichotomy, two of the best centers of the 1940’s never met in an NCAA tourney.  George Mikan’s DePaul team traditionally entered the NIT, while Bob Kurland’s Oklahoma A
