Choosing a Backpack
 by: Steve Czuchra

When choosing a Backpack one should consider the following. What type

of trips or hikes do I plan on taking? How long will I be gone? And how

much gear do I really need to take? The following will show you what you need to know, and have you hitting the trails in no time.

What Type Should I Get?

This type of pack is used mainly for large loads, they transfer a lot

Women?s Golf And Exercise

May 30, 2009

While golf is long overdue to benefit from the application of fitness, thanks to women like Annika Sorenstam, women are now realizing strength training and flexibility conditioning aren’t just for men. The benefits on the golf course are well worth the effort of sticking to a regular golf fitness regime.

Today’s women golfers are more determined than ever to stake their claim to the golf course and a higher standard of performance. One of the primary factors allowing women to compete more competently on the course is fitness. From the baby boomers to the juniors, golfers are beginning to realize the advantages of increasing strength and flexibility. The women are no exception.

Here are some things women should keep in mind as they begin regular golf fitness training:

Women tend to be more flexible than their male counterparts. While there are exceptions to every rule, women can typically use stretching more for maintenance of flexibility as opposed to achieving or re-establishing full range of motion.

While flexibility for female golfers is important, strength is essential. Most women would be well served to place emphasis on building muscle strength to be more competitive. You should place emphasis on strength of the posterior chain muscles (lower back, glutes, and hamstrings), the abdominal muscles, and the shoulder girdle.

For the Performance-Minded Angler the Humminbird 931 GPS/Sonar is a Must
 by: NS Kennedy

Imagine being able to cast your lines into the water knowing for sure that there is a host of fish under the boat just waiting to snap up your bait? Well imagine no longer - with the Humminbird 931 you’ll be catching the big one, over and over again.

Let me tell you about the technology that allows you to find even the remotest fish hiding well below the surface.

First off, the high performance sonar on this fishfinder comes with an ultra wide display that has extraordinary resolution. What does this mean for you? It delivers for you a clear view of the bottom of the lake. You get a clear image of what is below you and therefore can arrange your attacks on those fish better. This is great because it allows you to see more of the bed at one time. The more enhanced the image is, the more details you will have of what’s below. Then, you’ll know just what you are after and be able to catch it.

Choosing a Water Filtration System

Choosing a Water Filtration System
 by: Steve Czuchra

A water filtration system is one of the most overlooked pieces of outdoor equipment

Often thought of as a luxury instead of a necessity, most folks who venture out hiking or exploring never give a thought to what might happen if their water supply should for some unforeseen reasons become exhausted either through an error in planning or conditions beyond their control.

You can go days without food - but not water.

If you can locate a source of water it can be treated and used.

What might have been a tragedy turns into a simple activity nothing more.

Even if you have an obtainable source of water it more than likely will contain parasites such as Giardia, Cryptosporidium and Bacteria such as E. coli. And also animal waste.

Lets take a look at some of the more common stuff found in our waters.

Protozoa: Are single celled parasites that are mostly responsible for our Water related illnesses. They can only divide within a host organism. Malaria is caused by protozoa.

Teenagers Top The Leader Board At The Womens US Open

May 28, 2009

Determination, poise, focus and talent were abundant, as teens topped the leader board at the 2005 Women’s US Open. Younger players at the 2005 US Women’s Open gained much more than experience. They definitely made their impact as the future leaders in womens golf Michelle Wie (15), Morgan Pressel (17), Paula Creamer (18) and Brittany Lang (19) were among some of the teens competing on the course at Cherry Hills Village, CO for the coveted title of Women’s US Open champion. All three finished in the top 25 Pressel tied for the #2 spot with Brittany Lang, Creamer 19th, and Wie finished tied for the 23rd spot.

The final round on Sunday began with the winner Birdie Kim trailing third-round leaders Morgan Pressel, Karen Stupples and Michelle Wie by one shot. Approaching the 18th hole, Pressel and Kim were tied for the lead. In an instant Kim holed out of a bunker to make golf history, and shatter the hopes of 17-year-old amateur Morgan Pressel.

The teens playing in this year’s Women’s Open all displayed persistence and commitment to golf that can be envied by most players young or old. These young women are making history in more than one way. They are bringing more attention than ever before to women’s golf. They are set to break records as well as meet the challenge of competing with their male counterparts.

Refreshing, Reformed, Refocused and Recharged
 by: Ranja Singh

Following on from our hugely successful opening few weeks and the phenomenal interest generated by attracting the attention of well established web sites and portals such as Rediff, Cricinfo, Times of India and others, www.ihateganguly.com has spiritedly said goodbye to puberty and reinvented itself as www.CricketWatchdogs.com. Why the change? Our focus has changed in keeping with our long-term mission to become watchdogs of cricket and the almost inevitable scheme of possibilities, which preclude Ganguly’s affiliation with the current Indian team. Since inception, our mission has not been to hound Ganguly so he seeks asylum out in the cosmic world but to address the quagmire of favouritism, zonal politics and Selectors’ incompetence and dilly-dallying that is reminiscent of Indian cricket.

At CricketWatchdogs.com, our mission is to become cricket’s ultimate watchdog by fostering healthy debates amongst the cricketing fraternity. This is a site devoted to bringing cricket fans from across the globe to vent their opinions and feelings without needlessly having to worry about upsetting the hierarchy, the cricketing stalwarts, their chums or the overtly sensitive media that pounces on anything that doesn’t conform to traditionalist views. We celebrate launching this platform to voice our concerns, grievances and our non-existent expertise, which we are expected to believe to be the sole prerogative of the much-fancied high profile cricketing websites. This is a predominantly cricket based website however our varied forums cater for avid followers of other sports too.

Poker: Which Cards Should I Play?

Poker: Which Cards Should I Play?
 by: Tom Corrier

After you have got your two cards, you need to decide whether you have a chance to get anything with them or not. Whether it’s useful to put more money into this game or not.

Firstly, there are certain cards you should always play (if they are suited): AA, KK, QQ, JJ, AK, AQ, AJ, KQ, KJ

Why these cards?

These cards have the highest possibility to beat others - to get high pairs, full houses, flush or four of a kind possibilities. Of course, you do need to think about how much money you need to put into the game as well. For example, AA is the best pair you could have at all. But even with that pair there’s a chance to lose. So if you have AA, no flop has been dealt yet and someone calls ALL-In, then you need to think first whether you are ready for the risk or not. Yes, you do have a great chance to win this game, but these chances are never 100% sure. What if the other guy is bluffing and he has 10 and 3.but then from the flop he gets two more threesor 10 and 3. There’s not a big chance for that to happen, but it’s possible and you do need to keep that in mind.

Do You Have Precious Rare Coins In Your Purse Or Change Jar?

Do You Have Precious Rare Coins In Your Purse Or Change Jar?
 by: Charles Roman

A Guide to Rare Coins in Circulation Today

It’s usually a small thing that turns regular looking money into valuable rare coins. Last year’s materials used instead of this year’s, a tiny symbol left off a minting die. Collectors covet the unusual and uncommon above all else, and these minor oversights result in a very limited number of coins. This means that supply is much lower than demand, and even something that looks almost exactly like a common penny can actually be a precious rare coin. Even more interesting is that many of these rare coins were released into circulation before anyone realized that a mistake had been made. Because not many people know what distinguishes precious rare coins from run-of-the-mill legal tender, these coins can remain in circulation for decades, until a lucky coin collector recognizes them.

How would you feel if you knew that you had handed over a penny worth $2,000 or more as change for a dollar? This guide will help you recognize a few exceptional American rare coins that you just might have lying around your house, shoved in a change jar, or tucked away into a pocket.

Camping Critters and What To Do About Them

Camping Critters and What To Do About Them
 by: Steve Czuchra

AH! The great outdoors, fresh air, sunshine, open spaces, critters.

Yes crittersyou know those uninvited little guests that can turn a fun camping trip into a less than pleasant experience. But despair not; with a little common sense and a few precautions you can keep the vermin at bay.

Mosquitoes, Flies, and other flying insects

There’s probably no other pest that can wreck a campout like these guys. They’re more tenacious than a piranha in a gold fish bowl.

Keep these guys where they belong, using a bug spray or lotion if you going to be away from camp products with deet work very well.

Citronella candles around the campsite will work but effectiveness decreases after a couple of yards or so.

If you don’t like to use one of the chemical preparations like deet many campers rely on the natural approach using products that contain essential oils from plants, for some this seems to do the trick.

Bees, Wasps and Hornets

The best thing to do for these guys is don’t panic, run, swat, throw stuff etc.
