Choosing Hiking Boots
by: Marty Rubenski
If you’ve ever been 5 miles from the trailhead with painful blisters, or even a sprained ankle, you will appreciate how much your hiking enjoyment rests literally on your feet. The selection of the correct hiking boots can be the difference between a great experience and a disaster. The choice of the right pair of boots can add considerably to your comfort and personal safety, especially in rugged or difficult terrain.
Before you start comparing the many brands and styles of hiking boot, consider the type of terrain and your style of hiking. Do you take extended treks through the mountains or just stroll through the local park or greenbelt? Select a boot based on the most difficult terrain you will encounter. Do you carry a heavy pack? The heavier the pack the sturdier boot you will need. Are you an all-weather hiker? Do you need a lightweight breathable fabric or a heaver waterproof material?
Functional Exercise For Golf WarrantsThe Quickest Results
January 30, 2010
Functional exercise for golf can mean different things to different golfers. But the key is to take a look at the golf swing mechanics and devise golf exercises, drills, and golf programs to strengthen weak or limited phases of the swing.
Not every golfer has the same deficiency; and treating golfers this way is like "one-stop" shopping. This will result in failure. No improvement for the golfer. This is a complete waste of time, money and physical effort.
The first step is for the golfer to partake in a golf fitness evaluation to determine the correct functional exercise for golf program.
This evaluation should cover strength, flexibility, stabilization and endurance. These are all key factors in performing at your best. These individual tests cannot be general fitness tests, but tests devised specifically for the golfer in mind.
Functional exercise for golf is dynamic, sequential and incorporates core strength and stabilization. Any functional exercise for golf that does not address this is not for golfers.
First off the golf posture is not common among many sports or athletic movements. Being ‘bent-over’ at the waist with your weight more at the balls of your feet incorporate balance and stabilization immediately.

Popular Horse Site Now Accessible For All!
by: Rob Fenn
Since the Disability Discrimination Act has come into force in 2005, usability and accessibility has driven the new design for www.black-stallion.co.uk, home of Gran Culom, a Spanish Horse available for stud in the UK.
The Disability Discrimination Act details how UK businesses should provide equal service to the disabled, including the legibility of their website(s). The Black Stallion site uses guidelines set out by the UK Government and the W3C to ensure consistent legibility in any browser by anyone. Since the re-design, a reviewer on Amazon in fact said “The layout and design of the pages seems to work in most browsers.”
An added benefit of having an accessible website, incorporating well structured code and layout, is that sites are likely to do better in the search engines, such as Google, Yahoo and MSN. Using Black Stallion as an example, on MSN Search the keyword phrase “stallion for stud UK” gives a placing of 3rd, despite competition from much larger sites.
The re-design was carried out by Sixth Sense ESP (http://www.sixthsense-esp.co.uk) who has experience in creating website designs that focus on attractiveness and usability. Samantha Hicks, Black Stallion’s owner spoke of the company favourably; “Sixth Sense ESP have created a professional website that not only looks great but brings in visitors too!”

The History of Steeplechase Horse Racing
by: Toby Beavers
The sport of Steeplechase racing dates back to 1752 in Ireland when two, half-crocked, friends settled the argument over who owned the best horse by racing to the nearest Church steeple after returning from Fox hunting. The winner actually rode right through the church where the vicar was holding a solemn funeral. Soon steeplechase racing spread to England, where in 1792, the first recorded race was held. This sport then crossed over from the Atlantic to the US, where it has became very popular.
In the early 19th century nine prominent men from New York - August Belmont, H. DeCourcy Forbes, Samuel S. Howland, James O. Green, Frederick Gebhard, A.J. Cassatt, Foxhall P. Keene, John G. Follansbee and Frederick H. Prince founded the National Association for Steeplechase. When it was first founded, its mission was to make the sport popular in the US and help it grow across the Atlantic. For membership details and other small tidbits about the Association, you can visit their website at http://www.nsfdn.org/membership.html.
Golf Club Componets: Playing Golf The Lego Set Way
January 28, 2010
To understand how to buy golf club components, you first need to know how these parts work and what they are in the first place. So let’s begin in this way. If you know the parts already, treat this portion as a short review of Golf 101.
The Grip
The grip of the golf club is important because it is the extension of the golfer’s hands. According to the rules of golf, the grip has to be round, without obvious pockmarks which detract significantly from the roundness.
The Shaft
The shaft of the golf club connects the grip to the head and, like the grip, must also conform to accepted roundness rules. Most modern golf club shafts are made of either steel or a carbon-fiber and resin composite. Now it’s about time to explain the concept and the theory behind a golf club component. The operant word is assembly type. It’s like playing Lego set. So let’s say you want to fit your choice of shaft to the rest of the club components, you’ll be running into a vendor that sells a golf component kit. Now you’ve got to be careful about whom you trust in this business. It’s easy to ruin your investment. It can get scratched or worse, broken. It’s not a simple glue or Epoxy situation.
Back Exercise And Golf Are Synonymous
January 28, 2010
Back exercise and golf. Doesn’t that sound like a common denominator? Of all the injuries in golf, the low back is by far the highest one.
To explain why doing back exercise for golf is important, a golfer needs to understand why.
The golf swing is one of the most (if not the most) stressful movements on the lower back. Picture this. You’re in a static position at the start; then you try to rotate your upper body as far as you can go, while keeping the lower body as stable as you can.
This movement all by itself puts tremendous stress on the lower back. If you have a lower level of rotational flexibility, you are at HIGH RISK for low back injuries. You many have one as we speak.
Now picture having the strength to ‘uncoil’ that backswing, maintaining your golf posture at between 80-100 mph. If you have not participated in a back exercise for golf, you will not be able to generate any power at impact, therefore your driving distance is inadequate.
Does this sound familiar?

How to Read Slot Machines
by: Ryan D
The first thing you need to do is to learn how to “Read” a machine by reading the pay out table before playing. We will now examine the information provided in the payout table.
Firstly it will tell you the denomination of the coin needed to play that machine. For instance, I’m sure you have seen people drop a dollar into a machine that only accepts quarters, and than have the dollar rejected.
Lets now look at the different types of machines on offer:
Multiplier: This is a good machine if you want to play one coin at a time as it does not penalize you for if you do not play the maximum bet. This machine has a predetermined pay out for a certain symbol, and the number of coins you play multiplies it. So, if the machine pays 5 coins for three cherries when you play one coin, it would pay 10 for two coins and 15 for three coins played.

Controversy Still Follows Professional Wrestling
by: Burt Dymond
Popularity of Professional wrestling is to a large extent not viewed too favorably by parents. While children love this phenomenon, parents find certain wrestling styles to be offensive and disturbing. In many homes, children are banned from watching professional wrestling on television. This does lead us to the question of - Is all the fuss justified, or is professional wrestling really just a soap opera for boys?
Everyone knows by now that professional wrestling is a sham. Viewers long ago gave up the idea that it was for real. Actors pretend to be wrestlers and it doesn’t take much skill. The only real aspect is that someone could actually be hurt.
The fuss has little to do with whether or not professional wrestling is real, but parents and others worry that it’s sending bad messages. It’s definitely violent, no one can deny that. Recently, professional wrestling is venturing into new territory. It’s always targeted racial and ethnic backgrounds, but now there is physical and verbal abuse directed at women in the world of wrestling. This is the part that’s bothering many people.

Hunting By Moon Phase: Your Best Season Ever
by: David Rose
Every season, millions of hunters take to the woods with renewed enthusiasm and vigor. Unfortunately, many come away empty handed, returning day after day to face similar results. It’s every hunter’s biggest dilemma, but some have found the perfect solution, and that is hunting by moon phase.
Fishermen have long been aware of the powerful influence of the moon on the tides and chart the various phases of the moon in order to determine the best time to fish. Similarly, animals are in tune with their surroundings and certain shifts in natural forces trigger corresponding responses in the wild.
For years, researchers have studied the reaction of wildlife to changes in the position of the sun and moon and have come up with some rather interesting observations in relation to hunting by moon phase.
So, how does this work? How can paying attention to the phases of the moon help ensure a hunter’s success?
Animals and the Moon
Animals in the wild tend to be less active during daylight hours. Feeling safer under the cover of darkness, many animals will increase their activity as dusk falls.
